The three holes are a unique identifier that allows a Smithey to stand in a crowd. Reach for it on the range!
We use 2-3 coats of pure grape seed oil to pre-season your Smithey with. Seasoning is applied by hand and there are no chemical coatings of any kind applied to your skillet.
Our standard size leather skillet sleeve is custom fit for your No. 12 skillet.

We were looking for something that could move well from oven to stovetop to grill easily, and without any sort of chemical coating. We are in the process of eliminating all coated cookware from our kitchen for how much they harm the environment- their creation, short useful life, and the inability to recycle them. I remember food being cooked on cast iron and it’s just so much more palatable. We’re getting used to these new skillets and there’s a learning curve for sure. But we’ve got a good start on those patinas already and we look forward to thousands of meals cooked in them for our household of 6! Your company is a class act. Thanks so much for keeping traditional skills in the States.
